The Diamond 12 series is the latest incarnation of the Diamond speaker, which has been on the market since the 80s. One of the main features of the Diamond 12 series is the Klarity material of which the cones are made: a mixture of polypropylene and mica is designed to add rigidity to the cones and minimize the effect of “coloring” the sound. In addition, the drivers from Klarity have been given soft mounts, giving them "the highest possible linear response".

Another vital innovation is that the magnetic system with associate metallic element wear ring. It is said to reduce the impact of unwanted fluctuations. The domes of the tweeters with a diameter of 25 mm were made from a special fabric film, which is designed to make the highs more open.

Wharfedale also drew attention to the special design of the cases, which makes it possible to build a deep and voluminous stage. The acoustic cabinets are assembled so that their useful internal volume enhances the performance of the speakers. The layered sandwich design should reduce the cabinet's impact on overall sound quality and character. According to the developers, this makes the acoustics universal in terms of musical material - so the speakers should be able to cope with any genre.

The new series of speakers uses fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, as well as air-core coils (a solution from the higher price category). The combination of materials with different resonant frequencies allows you to effectively dampen unwanted resonances without having to make the total wall thickness too large. Another solution aimed at obtaining the deepest and most mobile low frequencies is to equip the woofer with powerful magnets, in combination with ensuring high mobility of its cone. This results in a punchy sound at low frequencies that is deep, well-focused and detailed.

The tweeter in the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is installed the same as in other speakers in the series, which allows you to use these speakers in the surround channels (as rear) in sets based on them. The tweeter has a sound guide that forms their directivity diagram, reducing re-reflections of sound waves from furnishings in the listening room. The woofer in the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is loaded on a bass reflex, the output of which is brought to the rear panel.

The Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is the most compact floorstanding speaker in the series and is great for small rooms. This speaker has a 2.5-way configuration and is equipped with two woofers. The woofers have woven Kevlar cones and are equipped with powerful magnets for increased sensitivity. The woofers are loaded on a phase inverter, the outlet of which is brought out to the bottom of the case. A 25 mm soft dome tweeter is loaded onto a precisely dimensioned sound guide that evens out the speaker pattern.

The Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 has sandwich walls to eliminate stray vibrations and associated coloration at high volumes. To improve the mechanical decoupling from the floor, Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is mounted on spikes. The speakers have well-chosen proportions for good integration into a residential interior. The speakers on the front panel are covered with individual protective nets and complemented by a beautiful silver edging. In general, this model can be considered one of the most attractive in appearance in its class.

The speakers are equipped with an improved crossover filter made from selected components, and a pair of reliable screw terminals are used for connection to the amplifier. Small size and carefully damped enclosures allow the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 to literally melt into the soundscape, making it an excellent choice for small spaces. Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is equipped with two pairs of reliable gold-plated input terminals, which allows it to be connected in a two-cable configuration.

Stable impedance and high sensitivity ensures good speaker matching with various models of stereo amplifiers and AV receivers. This model has a very favorable ratio of quality and price and is a good choice for many music lovers, including those building their first Hi-Fi system. Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 will look no less organically in a modern home theater, complete with other speakers in this series.
